Brian Kirwan wins Odlums Cross Country Cup with St Laurence O’Tooles in Carlow

St Laurence O Tooles runner Brian Kirwan says he was very happy to win the Carlow County Cross Country Championships despite not having as much running under his belt.

Brian took the Odlums Cup with teammates from the club taking second and third place.

He told KCLR that he felt good in the lead up to it and it paid off.

He said “I hadn’t been training as hard as I wanted to be training, I hadn’t a track season under me, I hadn’t got a cross country season under me”.

“I probably had been in a couple of road races, I wasn’t sure what shape I was going into it, I had put in a good six to eight weeks previous to it so I kind of knew the week of it that I was in good shape and that I was going to be hard to beat”.
