There’s a week to go to BAMMA 30, Europe’s biggest mixed martial arts promotion as the organisation returns to Dublin on Friday night next.

Originally with 3 local professional MMA fighters on the bill, that number has been cut to one.

‘Magic’ Myles Price (9-6), scheduled to face Philip ‘The Honeybadger’ Mulpeter, has his bout scrapped in the wake of the Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Irish Open having picked up an injury on the way to a bronze medal. He’s going through something of “a Dominick Cruz phase” as he says himself on a recent Rambling Rhinos podcast. SBG Portarlington’s Mulpeter will now face Azerbaijani fighter Ilkin ‘The Monster’ Gasimov who fights out of Ultimate Factory, France.

Similarly, Carlow’s Andy ‘The Carlow Kid’ Murphy (1-1) has had to withdraw from his BAMMA 30 against Dubliner Dylan Logan in the past week having failed his pre-fight medical.  Diagnosed with acute vertigo, Murphy is on rest for a few weeks and fully intent on returning to action this autumn. Logan will now face Aaron Maguire in a featherweight bout.

Kilkenny’s representation on Europe’s biggest MMA stage will by Mick ‘Bash’ Brennan (4-7) who was last involved at BAMMA 24 in Dublin back in February 2016. On that occasion he dropped a first round loss to Brian ‘The Pikeman’ Moore but in his podcast this week had the simple message “Don’t blink”.

“I tore my ab, or something like that, going into the last fight”, says Brennan of his time on the BAMMA 24 card.

“I wasn’t able to straighten by body, was in savage pain. You can see it in the fight replay. This fight is different. Prep is going really well, weight cut has gone really well. A big thing for me has been the help of Rich Shanahan the sport psychologist. He’s been the biggest change as regards to my approach to a fight. It’s been a real eye-opener.”

“I have my routine, I have my schedule, sticking to it as always. I was supposed to fight Decky for an ISK title four or five years ago maybe. He might have been injured, but it didn’t happen. I’m looking forward to fighting Decky. I’ve said it before, Decky comes to fight. I like that – I really like that. He’s going to give a performance, I’m going to give a performance as well – don’t blink.”

Decky ‘The Diamond’ Dalton returns once more and after his battle with Jonathan Brookins at BAMMA 28: Parke Vs. Redmond, will look to get back to winning ways and back on the path to ultimate Featherweight glory. The chants of ‘Decky’s Gonna Get Ye’ will once more ring out around the 3Arena as Dalton steps back in once more to do what he loves best, compete.
