Freebooters manager David Butler says the progression of the young players is working as they prepare for Sunday’s Pat Maher Shield Semi-Final against Evergreen.
Speaking to the KCLR, David says their patience is paying off.
“We have had to put in a couple of bad years now so this year is going a bit better. It’s all about progression throughout the years. You have to be patient. It’s very hard to get quick success, you have to get to really get to know the players and give them time. It’s starting to work now.
“It’s a Very young team, probably an average age of about 23-24 so the boys are hungry for success now. We are after getting ourselves in a good position this season to hopefully win some kind of silverware, but as I said Evergreen are the main team in Kilkenny and it’s going to be hard to beat them on any day of the week so we will see how we get on.” he said
